Quality Engineer

Position:                      Permanent (following 6 month probation)

Reporting to:               Quality Manager

Location:                     Knowsley Industrial Estate, Knowsley, L33 7UF

Hours of work:             8-17 Mon-Thu, 8-14:30 Fri (Some flexibility)


  • Coordinate, investigate and resolve non-conformance of internal processes, with suppliers and with customers.

  • Carry out internal and supplier audits to ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3.

  • Maintenance of:

    Document Control System.
    Change Management System.
    Supplier Management System.

  • Support development and implementation of:

New Product Development (APQP, PPAP).
Improvements to business processes.

 Essential Skills (Minimum Skill Requirements):

  • Experience working in a component manufacturing environment.

  • Experience working to international quality standards.

  • Experience of process improvement tools.

  • Ability to analyse information (including numerical) and interpret trends.

  • Competency in Microsoft Office.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working in an automotive component manufacturing environment.

  • Experience working to IATF 16949/TS 16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards.

  • Experience of auditing to international quality standards.

  • Experience of APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC and MSA.

  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing Principles.

  • Qualified to (Lean) Six Sigma Green Belt.

  • Competency in Minitab.

  • Competency in SAP Business One.

Travel Requirements:

 The role will involve travel to customer and supplier sites; this should be 5-10% of the time. This may include travel outside of the UK and outside of the EU. While access to a car is not essential, a full UK driver’s license is essential for travel within the UK.

Plant Operator - Position Closed

Role Overview

As a plant operator you will support the business in its production activities which will initially involve the use of the lathe and grinder. Training will eventually be extended to involve other production activities.


  • Turning on Lathes.
  • Grinding on Surface Grinders.
  • Quality Control of all parts produced.
  • Within the role you will become a fully trained member of the team – In the operation of Lathes, Grinders, and Furnaces, needling, inspection equipment and all production support activities.
  • Comply with H&S and Company Policy procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices at all times.
  • Support product and process optimization in line with the quality needs of the business.

Required Skills

  • Experience of Turning.
  • Experience of Ring Grinding.
  • Multidisciplinary approach to work.
  • Working to tight tolerances.
  • Delivery focus approach to work.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on their own with minimum supervision.
