Surface Transforms approved for ISO14001 certification
Following an external audit by independent auditor Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance, Surface Transforms has been certified to ISO14001:2015 environmental management system standard – a benchmark for best practise with worldwide recognition. This achievement has been made possible by work across the company, in particular by the Environmental Team; it reflects Surface Transforms’ commitment to respect, care for and protect the environment, continually improve environmental impacts and manage raw material and wastes. ISO14001 is also a pre-requisite of supply to some automotive OEMs.
The ISO14001 audit included a thorough site inspection, during which ST environmental controls (e.g. legal compliance register, waste segregation and storage, oil and chemical storage and spill control) were scrutinised.
What is ISO14001?
ISO14001 is a management system standard – it describes how the company should be run, including specific processes, results and auditing requirements; it lists these as requirements and recommendations in a published document (standard). ISO14001 is assessed and certified by third party auditors. ISO14001 is published by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) – ISO is made up of 162 national standards bodies and brings together international expertise to provide recommendations and documents for standardisation on a wide range o subjects. ST is already certified to the ISO Quality Management System (ISO9001) as a component of our IATF16949 certification.
The 2015 version of the standard places a great amount of emphasis on risk-based thinking and demonstrable management leadership throughout the business and these have been verified by the audit.
